Green Beans
Green bean, or string bean, is one of my favorite vegetables. They are very easy to make at home. This green bean recipe is so fast, it takes me 5 minutes from start to finish!
Spring is a wonderful time to try this recipe as farmers market offers an abundant supply of them. They are also available at supermarkets and food stores throughout the year.

How to Cook Green Beans?
This Garlic Green Bean calls for just a few ingredients:
- Minced garlic
- Salt
- Ground pepper
I am using Chinese techniques on this recipe. For the best texture, you want to flash cook the beans. A quick stir-fry and saute in a hot wok or skillet will make sure they remain crisp, with a gorgeous and vibrant green color.
You can cook them longer if you like. They are called “dry-fried” green beans in Chinese and the surface become wrinkly and slightly brown. Both are delicious ways to cook fresh green beans.
This recipe is the super quick, easy and anyone can make in a jiffy. Pick up a bunch of them from the store today and make this amazing side dish.
How Many Calories per Serving?

Yes green beans but cooked.
Hello Bee, I plan to make this this week but have a question. Do I cook the green beans on a medium high heat or medium? I have tried many of your recipes and they’re delicious! Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Dulce, cook at medium-high heat. Thanks for trying my recipes, please check out more here: https://reference.rasamalaysia.com/recipe-index-gallery/
I’ve made this a few times (and making them tonight) and we love love love them! So simple and really delicious. I may even enjoy them more leftover!
After reading your bean recipe I just had to try it out. I’m a big fan of green beans. Followed your recipe to the T the first time I cooked them. All I can say is lovely lovely. The second time I cooked them I put a heeped teaspoon of black bean sauce in and wow that gave the old taste buds a treat. Peter in NZ
Hi Peter, that’s great to hear! :)
My friend from China shared this recipe with my family in the 80s and it is a vegetable staple meal! Simple but delicious. This IS stringbeans!
Hi Robert, I am very confused by what Americans call these beans – French beans, string beans, green beans, haricot vert…;)
I can’t get these beans — whatever they are called — in Belize. The ones that look like this are very tough and have to be stewed. But we have snake beans (aka long beans) that are sweet and tender; this recipe should work for those too! Thank you.
Yes, correct snake beans will work just fine. :)
You can’t go wrong with garlic and green beans! I never say, “No” to garlic!
